Together, We Can Do This

After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia’s house, where they met with the brothers and sisters and encouraged them. Then they left.
Acts 16:40
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
Several years ago, a friend and I took a motorcycle trip out to Oregon. Our journey took us through South Dakota. As I rode west on Route 212 heading toward the Missouri River, enjoying the beautiful prairie and a bright blue sky, I began to pay attention to the power poles along the road. Periodically and rhythmically, power lines extended from the line along the road to each ranch and homestead.
It got me thinking about how we are all connected, across time and culture, and across denominations and sects. I realized our faith in Jesus is the result of others before us passing it on. We are all members of the Body of Christ, living stones that form an eternal temple for God (1 Peter 2:5).
Like Paul and Silas, we need to receive and give encouragement and mentoring with other believers at various times and in various ways. The Holy Spirit orchestrates this through His promptings—those spiritual nudges.
It is the only way that any one of us can go forth proclaiming the Gospel and discipling people in “all nations”. Together as one Church, one Body of Christ.
Next Steps
Join the Willow community in reading through the book of Acts through the early part of August.
If you need encouragement or a mentor, ask God to send someone to help you and ask Him if there is anyone that you can encourage in their faith.
Please continue participating in acts of service throughout the summer. It is a fun way to feel God’s joy and to be encouraged.
We know that how we live and act is a powerful way of proclaiming the truth of Jesus as Lord. Please consider joining in on the upcoming Back to School Drive scheduled this month.
