Special Friends Crystal Lake

Expressing God's extravagant love and unleashing the God-given abilities of those with special needs

Select a Willow Creek Location

Through inclusive and sensory-friendly environments, the Special Friends programs at Willow Crystal Lake help those with special needs fully engage in the life of the church.

Their families and friends can attend weekend church services, knowing that their loved ones engaged in a safe, fun, Christ-centered experience.

At Crystal Lake

Willow Crystal Lake information

The Special Friends program at Willow Crystal Lake partners with families during all weekend services to provide a specialized environment for students with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Through inclusion support, students can engage in Promiseland (ages 2-grade 5), Elevate (grades 6-8) and Impact (grades 9-12).

New families welcome

The first step in joining Special Friends is to complete the New Family Form. This form provides information that will help prepare our staff and volunteers to meet the needs of your unique child and help you connect with the Special Friends opportunities that are right for you.

Throughout the year, Special Friends events promote community within the church where families can have fun, meaningful social interaction, and build support networks together. Past events include bowling; Christmas, Valentine, and Easter parties; and a summer concert at Crystal Lake.

Adults with special needs join together for community through sharing dinner, worship, and Bible study. Social events and serving opportunities are planned throughout the year.

Volunteer with Special Friends

We are looking for people to serve as buddies, helpers, companions, and/or teachers for our Special Friends participants. No experience necessary! Training is provided. Email John for more information.
