Couples & Marriage

Willow Chicago is dedicated to reflecting God’s grace and truth by encouraging Christ-centered relationships and marriages, and by embracing those who are relationally broken.

Pastoral Care at Willow Chicago:

God's Design for Marriage

The engagement period can be an exciting time for a couple, but it can also be one of the most stressful times. Preparing for marriage is essential to its success, as great marriages don’t just happen. God’s design for marriage based on biblical principles, and a relationship with Jesus, increases the odds for relational success. Willow Chicago desires to help couples build a relationship that will last a lifetime.

Getting Married at Willow Chicago

Pre-marriage Mentoring and Willow Wedding Officiants are available to those who call Willow Chicago their home church, and have been part of the community for at least 6 months. In preparation for marriage, we encourage all couples to take the pre-marriage workshops (Please allow six months to a year for the marriage process).

Wedding ceremonies at Willow Chicago are for those who regularly attend the church or are participating volunteers. The wedding officiant fee is $350. If you are not a part of a local church community, we would like to invite you to attend our Sunday Service (10 a.m. in our Worship Center, 1347 S State St).  After attending for several weeks, if you decide to be a part of the Willow Chicago community, we invite you to follow the pre-marriage process.

Next Steps: The Pre-Marriage Process

  1. The couple attends the Getting Ready for Marriage: From Getting Engaged to Making the Ultimate Commitment class or workshop.
  2. The couple is given the Prepare and Enrich materials and the Couple Check-Up.
  3. The couple is assigned a Mentor Couple and complete 2-4 sessions.
  4. The Mentor Couple submits a report to Willow Creek South Barrington
  5. An officiant is assigned to the couple and the wedding date and location are selected.
