This Sunday, April 1
9 and 11am
Mary stood weeping outside the tomb... She turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?"
(From John 20:11–15 ESV)
At the very beginning, a woman in a garden—devastated by the effects of the Fall—was promised that one would come and defeat death forever (Gen. 3:15). Millenia later, a different woman wept in a different garden. Mary Magdalene could not have known that, in that moment, mankind was newly on the other side of the fulfillment of this enormous promise. And He Himself who crushed the serpent was there to personally, kindly comfort her, just as He comforts us even now: "Why are you weeping? Who are you seeking?"
Although we often come to the tomb expecting something else, He who we've always been seeking is here, is alive, and has accomplished our salvation. Join us as we celebrate Easter, rejoicing together that Jesus is here and has accomplished our salvation both now and forever.
