Celebration of Hope is about rejoicing in the changes God makes through us when we agree to be his hands and feet, serving our neighbors in need.
Jesus called us to live lives that are characterized by going. But the command to GO is more than simply signing on to a project. It’s about going to a need that we may never have seen up close, going beyond what is comfortable, what is familiar, what we’ve done before. When we GO in these kinds of ways, God can use our disorientation to change us and change His world.
We encourage you to go out and serve in one—or all—of the ways listed below:
This year, all seed-packing opportunities will take place outside of Willow Creek in various schools in our community during the week of April 2–7. The seeds we pack will be sent to our global partners in Zambia, South Africa, and Malawi. Each seed pack supplies enough seeds for a family to grow a garden that will produce a sustainable source of food and income for their household.
Joining a global serving team allows you to witness God’s work around the world, grow in your faith, and serve alongside our global partners and the local church as they address the needs of their communities.
Willow Creek has an ongoing partnership with local elementary schools through the Kids Hope Mentoring Program. Join a team that will serve some of these local schools through a cleaning or building project to help provide a better environment for students. Schools are located in Palatine & Hoffman Estates, and all projects will occur on Saturday, April 13 from 9–11 a.m.
Sign up to spend the day serving alongside our friends at Grace & Peace Church in downtown Chicago during their outreach event. Together, we will provide food and toiletries to 400 families in their community. Must be age 14+ to participate (minors must be accompanied by a parent), and Spanish-speaking is a plus (though not required)! The team will meet at Willow on Saturday, April 13 at 6:30 a.m. and will arrive back at 4 p.m. (Transportation with the team is required).
Share with us how you are serving so that we can celebrate and pray for you!
