Giving Beyond: Homes for Hope

The 2020 Year-End Fund

2020 has been a year of uncertainty, a year of being home. But what exactly is home? Is it the place you lay your head? The people you surround yourself with? The church community who sees you through good times and bad? For so many in our community, the financial realities of this year have shaken the security often felt at home.

As a church, we have an opportunity to not only help give hope, but to share in that hope as well. As part of our 2020 Year-End Fund, we are partnering with organizations all across our communities to make a greater impact in the areas of affordable and safe housing, job training, as well as moving people experiencing homelessness toward sustainability. We're also investing in our church homes so that we can create new spaces and become an open door for our communities.

We cannot fully know what our neighbors are carrying, but let's let them know they can count on us.

About our partners:

Fellowship Housing exists to empower single mothers to build a new legacy for their families by providing housing and financial coaching to help them pay off debt and have a stable future. Our donations will help provide childcare and COVID-relief so that moms can stay employed and keep their homes.

Hesed House aims to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, and give people the chance to hope again. We will fuel their mission so they can continue to provide assistance during a time when homelessness is on the rise.

Matthew House provides food, shelter, housing, and supportive services to those experiencing homelessness. They've supported the Bronzeville neighborhood for more than 25 years, addressing immediate needs and moving toward long-term solutions so alleviate chronic homelessness.

Naomi's House is a comprehensive residential program that offers hope and healing for women who have been sexually exploited. The housing provides a safe space to land, then they come alongside women to help them recover from the traumas they've endured.

Refuge for Women provides emergency housing for women and girls who have been abused or were rescued out of sex trafficking. Crimes against women have been on the rise and their demand for homes has skyrocketed. We will aid in their relocation and halfway-house expansion efforts to increase the number of women they can welcome into their program.

URChicago Alliance is a bible-based job training program in Cabrini Green and the North Howard neighborhoods. Their training and support has transformed families and communities, by providing a consistent source of income to alleviate homelessness.
