Parent FAQ

Where is Sandblast? - Indiana Wesleyan University - Marion, IN

When is Sandblast? - July 26-29

When & where is Check-in? - Check in location depends on the campus you register with. Please look for check in information in your confirmation email after you have registered. You will also receive a final details email with specific details for your student as we get closer to camp.

Where will students sleep? -Students will stay in dorm rooms with girls and boys in different buildings. Your student’s leader will be located on the same floor. There will be security patrolling the dorms throughout the night.

Will there be adult supervision? – Yes, students will be supervised by volunteer leaders and staff throughout the weekend.

What if my student has dietary restrictions? -Indiana Wesleyan serves a variety of foods at each meal and is experienced with working with students to meet allergy and dietary restrictions. Students will have a variety of options for meal time in the IWU food court. If your student has a serious food allergy or serious diet requirement and you didn’t indicate it on your registration form, please let us know.  Students are welcome to pack snacks that are allergy safe and keep them in their backpack throughout the weekend.

What if my student needs medications at Sandblast? -Please turn in all medications your student will need at Sandblast during check-in on Friday, July 26th, along with a Medication Form.  Meds will be given out at meal times and bedtime by our Medic Team.  Over the counter medications, like Tylenol, will be available from our Medic Team as needed.  Please do not have your student keep medications with them at camp, except for an inhaler or EpiPen if needed.

Are there alternate transportation possibilities? A student will have the best camp experience if they can participate the entire weekend without interruption.  If your student must miss part of camp, they will be permitted to either be dropped off late or picked up early, but not both as each arrival and departure interrupts an entire small group.  Please note that Indiana Wesleyan is about a 5 hour drive from Willow Creek South Barrington when planning for camp. Please contact your campus for an alternate transportation form.

Will there be a late bus? - There will be a late bus on Friday, July 26th at 1 p.m. Please contact Jenna Nystrom - [email protected]if your student will need to ride the late bus. Please note there is limited room, so approvals will be made in the order they are received.

What will my student do at Sandblast? - Throughout the weekend, your student will have intentional small group time, participate in worship services and activities that will allow them to dive deeper into their faith, and participate in competition with their House Groups.

I don’t know what house group my student is in? If your student attends the South Barrington campus they will be placed in a house group based on their high school. Click here for the house group listing.

Will there be medics onsite? -Yes, we will have a Medic Team staying with us all weekend.

How do I get a Sandblast t-shirt for my student? -T-shirts are available for pre-purchase only, so make sure to purchase one during registration!  They will be available for pick up at check in for camp on Friday, July 26th.

I'm interested in volunteering, how do I do that? If you're over the 18 years old there are many ways you can volunteer with Sandblast: Check In, Operations Team, Comp team, etc. Click Here for more information!
