In an effort to keep the 5k a safe event...

  • Participants must register online in advance. There will be no race day registration.
  • Participants will sign up for a designated start time between 9-11am. There is a strict limit for each assigned start time that are available on a first come, first serve basis. 
  • Packet pick-up is the week before the event. Packets and t-shirts will not be available on race day. 

Check-In and Packet Pick-Up

All runners/walkers must pick up their packet April 18-23, the week before the 5k. There will be no packet pick-up on race day. Specific dates and times coming soon.

Join fellow runners and walkers in training for the Willow Creek 5k. Dick Pond in Hoffman Estates is hosting a free training program on Tuesday nights at 6pm.

Frequently Asked Questions



The race starts at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 24. Each participant/group will sign up for an arrival time between 9-11am in order to help keep the race socially distant.

The race is on the South Barrington campus of Willow Creek Community Church, located at 67 E. Algonquin Rd., South Barrington IL 60010. The starting line is near Entrance D.

The Willow Creek 5k is open to all runners, walkers, and those with strollers, wheelchairs, or other special needs. Those who plan to walk or push strollers begin the race after the runners have started.

Students ages 5–18 may register for the race and receive their own shirt and bib with timing chip. Childcare is not provided, and parents are responsible to supervise their own children.




No, there will be no walk-up registration. You must register for the event before April 23.

The cost is $30 per adult and $15 per youth (ages 5-17).

No. Since signing a personal waiver is part of the registration process, registrations may not be transferred.

Yes! You’ll just need to sign for each packet you pick up.

There will be no refunds for this event.

Your donation and the proceeds from this year’s 5K will bring hope and relief to communities who have seen devastating impact by COVID-19 in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The funds will help churches address the problems of hunger, health, and education in their communities.

• US Mail. Send your donation (checks only) via the US postal system. Write “Willow Creek 5k” on the memo line of your check and mail to:

Yes, we have a new course map this year to accommodate social distancing. The course map will be available by April 10.

No. For the safety of other runners, no bikes, scooters, rollerblades, skateboards, longboards, hover boards, etc.

No. For the safety of other runners, only service dogs are allowed on the racecourse.

Yes! Glad you asked! Please use #Willow5k for posting on social media.

Professional race photos aren’t available; however, you may encourage friends and family to take photos and post them on social media using #Willow5k.

There will be individually wrapped snacks for participants.

Restroom will be available in Entrances A and D.

Yes. All found items are held at the Information Booth, located in the Activity Center, until the close of the race. After race day, unclaimed items will be held in the secure, lost & found closet of the church. Call 847-765-5000 during business hours, Monday–Friday, for help locating your lost item.

There will be no awards ceremony due to social distancing requirements. Race results will be posted online for all race participants to view.




Participants’ safety takes priority. The race will be delayed or cancelled if any of the following weather conditions exist or persist:
• Tornado watch or warning
• Thunder, lightning, or an electrical storm
• Heavy rain
• Other major weather conditions

If threatening weather conditions force cancellation of the event, no refunds can be provided since funds were already spent in preparation for race day.
