Joy Across Heaven
Thousands of people who attended services last weekend placed their names and the year they chose to follow Christ on banners as a symbol of the celebration thrown in heaven on their behalf. "God went on a relentless search for you until you came home," declares Senior Pastor Bill Hybels. "And if you are a Christ follower, there was a banner raised in heaven with your name on it."
Instead of a date, many people wrote "today" or "soon" on their stickers. "It was incredible to see how many people were ready to take that step of faith," continues Bill. "God wants to bring people home, and I believe He wants us to join Him in that effort."
Bill's teaching from Luke 15 urged people to remember the way God pursued them—and to live in "search mode" for those who are lost. "Anyone who is missing from God’s family is of great value to Him. Every single one of them matters to God, and they should matter to us," says Bill. "Who are you reaching out to and praying for?"
The Expectant series concludes this weekend with a message from Teaching Pastor Steve Carter, and it's a great opportunity to bring those you are praying for to church!
Get the Only God EP Today!
Last weekend, the Willow Creek worship team released Only God six-song EP that captures the music and prayers of our church. "These new songs beautifully lift up the name of Jesus and are bringing our community together in worship," says Executive Pastor Heather Larson. "Not only that—the album hit No. 1 on the iTunes Christian and Gospel chart! We are praying God uses this music to teach people more about who He is and how great His love is."
Mark Your Calendars: A Milestone Anniversary!
Willow Creek celebrates its 42nd anniversary on October 14/15 with a message from Senior Pastor Bill Hybels and an update about his role. "Put this date in ink," says Bill. "We will announce who the elders have chosen to lead our church into its fantastic future, and you don't want to miss it!"
