A new perspective on praise
Summer at Willow Creek continues this weekend as friend of Willow and Church of the City Pastor Darren Whitehead explores what it means to praise God, and singer-songwriter Chris Tomlin leads an extended time of worship.
In their 2017 book, Holy Roar, Darren and Chris share a fresh perspective on worship by exploring the praise practices of the ancient world. They found something extraordinary happened when God's people gathered to worship Him. But does the extraordinary still happen today? They believe it can.
"Most people don't realize there are seven different Hebrew words that get translated into the English word praise," says Darren. "They all inform and help us understand what we do when we praise God."
During services, Chris will infuse some of our favorite worship songs with a fresh energy, and Darren will encourage us to adopt a new perspective on worship—one that extends beyond singing; one that is a declaration, a proclamation, and a way to fully embody praise to God for who He is and what He has done.
Join us this weekend for a full worship experience that will deepen your understanding of praise and help you connect with God!
