An Interview with Rachel Cruze & An African American Heritage Celebration
This weekend, Senior Pastor Bill Hybels continues Reset with a message on finances and Executive Pastor Heather Larson interviews Rachel Cruze, author of the New York Times best-selling book Smart Money Smart Kids. Rachel co-wrote the book with her father, Dave Ramsey. Rachel is a gifted communicator and is passionate about instilling biblically based financial values in kids and young adults.
In addition to a fantastic message and interview, a special African American History Month reception will be held following the Saturday 5:30 p.m. and Sunday 11:15 a.m. services. "All February, our Main Lobby has highlighted short biographies of African Americans who have changed history," says Heather. "Take some time to read and learn, then let's celebrate together!"
The receptions will feature music and cultural exhibits focused on men and women who have made significant contributions in social justice, education, and history. The Saturday reception features dessert, and you can enjoy a taste of soul food on Sunday.
A Middle School March Mayhem
The Forward vision to fight for every Willow family provides opportunities for kids and students to invite their friends to fun events. This March, Elevate unveils March Mayhem, two weekends dedicated to encouraging Elevate students to bring friends to church and, ultimately, introduce them to the God who loves them.
On March 3/4, Elevate will host Dodgeball and Disco at Willow Creek, featuring a dodgeball tournament, silent disco party, and Mario Kart tournament during regular service times! Chicago Bears linebacker Sam Acho will join the fun and play games alongside the students.
On March 10/11, students will throw House Parties. Equipped with wacky game ideas, students can invite their friends to sleep over, then bring the entire group to Elevate to win prizes, jump on inflatables, and experience a fun church atmosphere.
"We are really excited about what March Mayhem will bring this year," says Student Ministries Director Scott Rubin. "We are praying for your students and those who will experience Elevate for the first time. As parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends, would you encourage our junior high kids to be bold in their invitations? Let's pray that they experience the thrill of God using them!"
