I have some fun news to share with you. Before I was officially hired at Willow, the Elders shared the importance of a dedicated campus pastor for South Barrington—someone whose focus would be to serve and lead the staff and congregation there. After I started, this became one of our top priorities. We’ve interviewed a diverse pool of qualified candidates, and our team is excited to announce that Shawn Williams has joined the Willow family as our South Barrington campus pastor. Shawn will also be one of our teaching pastors. Check out some of his teaching here.
Shawn attended Ozark Christian College, earning a bachelor of arts in biblical literature, and Wheaton College, where he earned a master of arts in theology, before beginning his ministry journey at Community Christian Church in Naperville. For 15 years, he served in a variety of roles, including student ministry director, teaching pastor, and campus pastor at the Yellow Box (Community Christian’s first and largest campus).
He’s led through seasons of change and expansion—with a passion for shepherding and developing people each step of the way. In 2015, Shawn joined the staff of Central Church in Las Vegas and served there as a teaching pastor and executive pastor of leadership development. Central is a church with 14 locations and more than 18,000 people attending weekly. Shawn had continued as a teaching pastor at Central even though earlier this year, he and his family moved back to Chicagoland to be closer to extended family.
Shawn is married to Lindsay, and they have two boys, Levi, 13, and Austin, 10. He is a Cubs fan and an avid runner. You’ll get to know Shawn in the coming weeks during weekend services and via email in the Willow Weekly. I’m excited to see what God does through him.
Welcome to the Willow family, Williams family!
The best is yet to come,
