Written by Noelle, a women's daytime class attender and mom of four.
I will be starting my 4th year in Moms with Teens. We have a sophomore and a junior in college, a sophomore in high school, and an 8th grader. Through this class and all the wonderful women in this class, especially my small group, God restored hope, joy, and peace to my life. I now have a fantastic community and wonderfully fun friendships.
When I came to Moms with Teens 4 years ago, I was lonely and exhausted from trying so hard to bring community into my life. Our family was also in the midst of a serious crisis with our son. The stress on myself and our family was negatively affecting everything in our household. Anger, sadness, and despair filled my days.
Little did I know, God was working behind the scenes to heal my family and me. The summer before I joined Moms With Teens, I had bought the book "The Best Yes" by Lysa Terkeurst. This book, "coincidentally," was what Mom With Teens had decided to study that fall. God had opened a door, a door that I was scared to walk through. My problems were so big in my eyes that I thought I wouldn't find anyone who would understand my brokenness and the pain I was in and would not want to be friends. As I tried to talk myself out of this class, I knew deep down in my heart that I could not ignore this "coincidence." I registered for the class. Mom With Teens has been life-changing and life-saving for me.
When I walked into our class space and met my AWESOME small group leader, Kathy, it was a breath of fresh air, and God's presence in that room overwhelmed me. I was welcomed into this community of moms with open arms. My small group and the other women I met were amazing. I quickly realized that this was a place of healing and restoration and that I was not alone in my pain and sadness. We all carried burdens that were made lighter by the beautiful community of moms with teens, younger kids, and even college kids.
Every year, my relationship with God and with the women in this class gets stronger and stronger. The books we read, the speakers we listen to, and the discussions we have in small group are exactly what I need.
Over these years with these incredible women, as God led our women's class, He even opened my heart to serving. With the encouragement of my small group, I joined the Elevate team as a small group leader. I have also been introduced to the Blanket Ministry and the Willow Stitchers.
God is truly at work in the women's ministry!
