43rd Anniversary

Dear Enews Friends,

Forty-three years ago today, our church opened its doors for the first time. For reasons only heaven knows, God has chosen to bless our church and use it in great ways.Thousands have come to faith and been baptized. Many of us discovered our spiritual gifts here, and for the first time, unleashed them for God’s kingdom purposes. For many of us, this was the place God turned our minds and hearts to issues of poverty and injustice, and together we have worked to feed the hungry, bring water to the thirsty, and provide shelter to the homeless.

Twenty-two years ago,I walked onto the South Barrington campus as a recent college graduate and God used this church to expand my vision for what a local church could be.So many of my friends found faith here. I’m so grateful for the dream God birthed 43 years ago—and for the thousands of people who have worked so that our church could honor God and be a place where all are welcome. If you’ve been blessed, I hope you’ll take a moment today to say a prayer of thanks.

This weekend we'll thank God for allHis blessings and continue ourKingdom Come series, looking at Matthew 5 and Jesus’ challenge to be light in this world.Looking forward to being with you.

P.S. This Sunday is the last chance to register for Breakaway, Elevate’s fall retreat, happening October 26–28. It was at a middle school camp that God first called me into ministry—I’ll never forget that moment. Please don’t underestimate what God can do through our junior high kids. Sign yours up today and give them a weekend experience they’ll remember for a long time! Learn more here
