A Renewed Earth
Read Psalm 104:27–30
All creatures look to you
to give them their food at the proper time.
When you give it to them,
they gather it up;
when you open your hand,
they are satisfied with good things.
When you hide your face,
they are terrified;
when you take away their breath,
they die and return to the dust.
When you send your Spirit,
they are created,
and you renew the face of the ground.
- How might you summarize these few verses of Psalm 104 in a single sentence? What do these verses reveal about God?
- Reflect on the creatures, vegetation, and other elements of the physical world that God has created. What would renewal look like for the earth?
- How do you sense God inviting you to contribute to the renewal of the earth?
Father in heaven, give me eyes to see the whole earth and everything in it as Your creation—each thing made with love, concern, and great creativity. Help me to notice the beauty in the smallest creature and in the majesty of the stars and sky. May my response be awe and praise, wonder and enjoyment, of all You have made. And show me the ways I can participate in the renewal of all You have created. Amen.
