What Counts Is the New Creation
Read Galatians 6:14–15
May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.
- What do you think Paul meant by “the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world”?
- When Paul says that what counts is the new creation, what is he referring to?
- Circumcision and uncircumcision are no longer markers we talk about in our day, but we can tend to allow certain attributes, characteristics, or behaviors of people to color our view of their spirituality. How do you, or how have you, allowed these kinds of things to impact your view of whether or not someone is a Christian? What do you think Paul would say we should look at to make that determination?
Father in heaven, thank You that I get to be part of Your new creation—a new self found, loved, and secure in You through Jesus. Forgive me for the ways I have judged others or sought to compare my level of faith with the faith of others. Keep my eyes focused on Christ and protect me against the things of this world that threaten to pull me away and guide my attention away from You. Amen.
