He Cares for You
Read 1 Peter 5:7–9
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
This first line in today’s passage is one to remember! How often we carry around our anxious thoughts and fears for days or weeks on end. We forget that God has told us we need not do this. We can cast all we fear and all we worry about into His capable hands. And as important as this truth is, the even more amazing and important reality is that He cares for us. God is no distant, uninterested god. He is present, caring, willing. He wants to pour out blessing and take away our concerns.
- What do you worry about most? What would it look like for you to cast those things onto God?
- How is your ability to resist temptation and stand firm in your faith related to the worries and anxieties you carry with you?
- What is God seeking to draw your attention to through today’s passage?
God, thank You for the amazing gift of Your care and presence. When I am overwhelmed with sadness, anxiety, and worry, show me how to cast these things on You. Help me to trust that You love me and that Your desire is not that I drown in worry. Right now, I turn over to You, in the best way I know how, each worry that I’m carrying in my heart and mind, whether I’m even aware of it or not. Allow me to be free! Amen.
