The Lord Has Done This for Me
Read Luke 1:23–25
When [Zechariah’s] time of service was completed, he returned home. After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”
Elizabeth has no doubt that God intervened in her life so that she could become pregnant. She expresses her belief and her gratitude. What else could she do? She had longed for a child her entire married life, only to be disappointed. But now, the thing she had prayed for and desired had become a reality.
- How quick are you to see God’s intervention in your life when good gifts come your way? How do you express your acknowledgement and gratitude?
- Reflect on the major events or experiences you’ve had in the last six months. Where do you see evidence of God’s favor? How can you express your gratitude?
Father, thank You for Your presence and Your provision. I am sure I don’t see all the ways You intervene in my life for my good. And yet, I want to express my gratitude. Give me eyes to see where You work, and turn my heart toward You. May I never fail to give You thanks for Your goodness toward me. Amen.
