Compassion & Justice Coordinator - Willow Chicago

The part time Compassion and Justice Coordinator provides a vital role in the execution of Willow Chicago’s initiatives to address inequality, injustice, violence, and poverty. As a key staff member, they work closely with the C&J Director to serve both our local and global ministry by leading local and global serving team mobilization, leading our church-wide CJ events, building our CJ ministry communication channels, and leading the grant management/process and distribution. This role is approximately 20–25 hours per week.



  • Coordinate Willow Chicago’s effort to mobilize local and global serving teams including team recruiting, planning service opportunities, training, and development
  • Oversee Compassion and Justice church-wise events such as Celebration of Hope and Prison Pack weekend
  • Coordinate Willow Chicago’s grant distributions to local and global partners
  • Work with Willow Chicago Communications team to drive the communication of the Compassion and Justice ministry at Willow Chicago including newsletters, serving calendar webpages, Facebook, and Sunday lobby presence
  • Assist with other church wide events or initiatives


  • College degree
  • Prior experience volunteering in Chicagoland area
  • Knowledge of Willow Chicago’s Compassion and Justice philosophy and holistic ministry
  • Prior experience with global serving would be helpful
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Computer savvy
  • Ability to effectively lead and build high performing volunteer teams
  • Good understanding of grants, proposals and budget management
  • Must be available to work weekends and events
  • Spiritual gifts of administration, discernment, mercy, and/or service
