Recover Associate


The part time Recover Associate will contribute to the overall leadership and direction for the vision and strategy of Willow Creek Community Church’s RECOVER Ministry. This Associate will oversee the selection, vetting, training and evaluation of male RECOVER workshop facilitators. In addition, the Associate will provide leadership at RECOVER Wednesday night meetings for male leaders and participants. This role is approximately 10 hours per week, mostly on Wednesdays.


  • Manage and oversee male RECOVER facilitators and provide care and guidance to volunteer leaders
  • Recruit and oversee volunteers for set-up, tear-down, technology and greeters
  • Oversee sponsorship training and provide ongoing care for sponsors
  • Provide leadership and presence at RECOVER Wednesday night meetings for male leaders and participants (as well as females if the female pastor is unavailable)
  • Regularly host and periodically speak (2-4x per year) during RECOVER large group time


  • Prior pastoral or social services background preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree required; preference for degrees in Social Work, Pastoral Counseling, Psychology, Human Resources or Organizational Leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-awareness, emotional/social intelligence, empathy, composure, sensitivity and integrity
  • Heart and passion to leverage painful season in other’s lives for redemptive purposes
  • Demonstrates both personally and professionally healthy relational boundaries
  • Ability to hold sensitive information confidential unless someone is in harm’s way
  • Comfortable engaging DCFS for consult and reporting responsibility
  • Strong problem solving agility and decision making skills
  • Comfortable and skilled in conflict resolution
  • High sense of responsibility and attention to detail
  • Understanding of effective training principles with solid presentation and training skills
  • Strong data entry and computer abilities with database systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Enjoys managing processes and systems as well as identifying areas for efficiency and improvement
  • Ability to work Wednesday evenings
  • Spiritual gifts of Shepherding, Leadership, Discernment, Encouragement and/or Wisdom
