Pastoral Response Associate

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pastoral Response Associate will oversee and ensure compassionate quality pre-marital and wedding ceremony experiences, hospital visitations and funeral services by Willow Creek Community Church. The Associate will provide training and development to pastoral volunteers. In addition, the Associate will provide on-campus pastoral response presence during 3 weekend services and provide back-up supervision for the Response Pastors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure an efficient customer-focused process for initiating a funeral, wedding, baby dedication or hospital visitation needs
  • Oversee the funeral coordinator and staff supporting weddings
  • Oversee the selection, vetting and ongoing training of officiates and evaluate officiate performance to ensure a consistent quality experience for all congregants
  • Create a helpful pre-marital counseling process for engaged couples
  • Schedule staff and volunteer coverage for our Prayer Room during weekend services as well as recruit, vet and train new Prayer Room volunteers
  • Be available in the bullpen after each service to support the teacher
  • Participate in the rotating “call” roster for after-hours calls
  • Provide supervision for the response pastors when the Pastoral Services Manager is not in the office
  • Support the Pastoral Services Manager in the training and development of Response Pastors

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree required; preference for degrees in Social Work, Pastoral Counseling, Psychology, Human Resources or Organizational Leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-awareness, emotional/social intelligence, empathy, composure, sensitivity and integrity
  • Heart and passion to leverage painful season in other’s lives for redemptive purposes
  • Demonstrates both personally and professionally healthy relational boundaries
  • Ability to hold sensitive information confidential unless someone is in harm’s way
  • Comfortable engaging DCFS for consult and reporting responsibility
  • Strong problem solving agility and decision making skills
  • Comfortable and skilled in conflict resolution
  • High sense of responsibility and attention to detail
  • Understanding of effective training principles with solid presentation and training skills
  • Strong data entry and computer abilities with database systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Enjoys managing processes and systems as well as identifying areas for efficiency and improvement
  • Spiritual gifts of Administration, Leadership and Wisdom
