Human Resources Director

The Human Resources Director is responsible for the oversight of all Human Resources activity, including vision development, strategy management, team direction, and direct support of the Executive Team.  In addition, this person will play a significant role in developing Willow Creek Community Church culture, including Willow values, behaviors and leadership expectations. Salary for this role is competitive within the Chicagoland market.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a Human Resources function at Willow that has a compelling vision with clear intent and goals
  • Directly support the members of the Executive team as their HR partner, assisting with all HR duties impacting their direct teams
  • Actively participate on the Willow Creek Community Church Executive Team, making sure people and roles are aligned around key initiatives and activities, helping to form and develop Willow’s overall strategy and vision
  • Ensure legal and employee relations, total rewards, talent attraction and talent management work together to form a strong value proposition for Willow staff
  • Develop Human Resources strategies by identifying and researching HR issues across the church and establish human resources objectives in line with the overall HR strategy
  • Deliver information, analysis and recommendations to enhance church strategic thinking and direction, related to the use of human capital
  • Manage Human Resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling and disciplining HR staff
  • Manage all planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing of HR staff contributions and ensure the HR team is effectively managed towards clear goals with a compelling and healthy culture
  • Lead the HR Team to ensure that the functional HR areas - legal/employee relations, total rewards, talent attraction and talent management - work together to form a strong value proposition for Willow staff
     

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years’ experience in the HR field with at least 5 in a leadership role
  • HR or Business related college degree
  • Experience leading an HR function and HR Certification preferred
  • Excellent communicator, skilled in handling difficult conversations with employees and superiors
  • Skilled in building relationships and teams
  • High level of discernment and the ability to size up people
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Highly skilled in organizational agility and astuteness with strong interpersonal savvy
  • Strong listening skills with a high sense of compassion
  • Spiritual gifts of leadership, administration, wisdom and discernment
