Middle School Director – Willow Wheaton

Job Description

The full time Elevate (Middle School) Director will inspire and encourage middle school students to know the love of Jesus and learn to live for Him by teaching Biblical truth and developing a supportive community. The Director will understand and develop appropriate and relevant content informed by thorough Bible study and direct relationships with students. In addition, the Director will recruit and coordinate volunteers for each student small group and support them by developing and providing content. The Director will carry the vision of Elevate Wheaton and have primary programming, shepherding, and teaching responsibilities within the ministry.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee development of Sunday program including teaching, games, and small group time by developing an understanding of felt need from student body and researching Biblical text to provide theologically accurate and relevant messages
  • Coordinate with Worship Department to align worship experience with teaching content 
  • Set up, execute, and tear down Sunday programs
  • Support Student Impact (high school ministry) services as needed by Impact Director 
  • Pastor and shepherd middle school students through intentional connection and meet with students to provide pastoral support when needed
  • Connect students in groups to provide leadership and feedback about Elevate events and vision and develop student spiritual growth in groups or individually
  • Provide support for student events (including Impact, camps, and other special events) by contributing to development and execution
  • Lead development and execution processes for Elevate events and connect with other staff and other campuses as needed for programming and support
  • Communicate with parents regarding high school events and teaching through social media and email
  • Recruit, support, and communicate with Elevate volunteer team weekly with resources for weekend services

Job Requirements

  • College Degree in ministry or theology preferred
  • Experience in Student Ministries as a high level volunteer or paid staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and event planning skills
  • Good at building teams and leading volunteers
  • Creativity
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Strategic thinker preferred
  • Spiritual gifts of leadership, teaching, exhortation, shepherding, mercy evangelism and/or hospitality
