Campus Pastor - Willow South Barrington

The Campus Pastors at Willow Creek Community Church locations are the “face with the place” and are responsible for the pastoral leadership and management of all functions of the campus (financial and ministry) and staff. This Campus Pastor will oversee and develop a team of strong leaders to support the overall South Barrington Campus strategy, as well as work closely with the CFO to develop and manage the South Barrington portion of the overall Willow Creek annual budget. In addition, the Campus Pastor will collaborate with the Executive Team in transitioning to a more unified centralized model.



  • Support ministries during the centralized model transition in establishing appropriate staffing levels, provide input in developing the Central team, and support in identifying central champions and lead teams who lead ministry areas across all campuses
  • Develop a team of strong leaders to support in the overall South Barrington strategy and hand ministry off to these leaders as needed to help balance workload and avoid burnout
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team to develop Willow strategic direction
    • Develop a strategic review process to understand where South Barrington needs to get, where they are currently, and develop a vision and strategy for how to get there -- to bring alignment to the overall vision of Willow Creek
    • Review the church vision and strategy annually
    • Ensure a spirit of “bridge building” and cooperation exists relative to other local churches, organizations, and civic leaders
  • Oversight of all South Barrington Campus Staff in conjunction with direct reports:
    • Develop a cadence of pastoral care for all staff at the campus
    • Manage all staff relationships in accordance with WCCC policies and practices, working with WCCC HR to implement key employment decisions
    • Provide coaching, mentoring, and evaluation of leaders in the church, specifically those responsible for discipleship/teaching
    • Conduct staff meetings on a regular basis for the purpose of supervising the activities of the staff, assigning tasks and priorities, planning for ministry and sharing of information
  • Focus on developing Key Relationships:
    • Develop a cadence of connection and prayer with the broader congregation
    • Establish strong channels of communication with all Willow leadership and peers, serving as the primary advocate between your campus and Willow Creek Central Team
    • Develop relationships with key volunteer leaders and top donors in your congregation
  • Ministry Department Focus:
    • Ensure that the campus ministries/programs are in line with WCCC mission, church identity, core values and are designed to achieve assigned ministry outcomes
    • Understand the intent, and drive success metrics and outcomes of all ministries in the church
  • Finances:
    • Work closely with the CFO to develop and manage the South Barrington portion of the overall Willow Creek annual budget
    • Manage fundraising and capital campaigns to ensure the church has the funds to achieve its vision and strategy
    • Manage all financial activity in accordance with the policies and practices, working with WCCC Finance on key activities


  • 4 year college degree with emphasis on biblical literacy required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience on staff in an executive leadership level at a multi-site church of 5,000+
  • Experience as a lead pastor or campus pastor at a church or campus size of 2,000+
  • Prior experience leading in a matrix type structure
  • Extensive leadership and management experience including planning/strategy/vision casting
  • Pastoral connections and/or care experience
  • Proven skills in building effective teams
