50,000 Acts of Service

Willow has always been a church passionate about making a difference in the community—through big and small actions, both inside and outside the walls of our buildings. Let’s make this summer one focused on living out the love of Jesus to our neighbors by completing 50,000 acts of service! Here are two easy ways to get involved:

  • Serve on your own or with your family/friends, then log it on the interactive map to contribute to our goal of 50,000 acts of service!
  • Join a serving group to grow in community, make a difference, and have fun!

Our interactive Unleashed map highlights the ways you’re serving your community. Click around, see where people are serving, and add yours to the map!

Here’s how we’re doing so far:

Need ideas?

Relational Ideas
  • Watch a friend’s children for free so the parent(s) can have a break.
  • Write encouragement cards to people in a nursing home.
  • Call a loved one you haven’t talked to in a while. Catch up and tell them you care.
  • Host a meal prep club for moms in your community to share recipes and meal prep for the week together.
  • Visit lonely seniors
  • Serve some senior citizens. They need people to talk to, too.
  • Invite someone new for dinner or lunch
  • Celebrate the little victories—leave a balloon, treat, or encouraging note for someone who reached a goal, hit a milestone, or simply made it through a tough week.
  • Buy flowers for a neighbor or friend to brighten their day.
Community Impact
  • Clean up a local playground
  • Join river cleanup events or restoration projects
  • Pick up litter when you’re on a walk
  • Donate gently used books to a little free library
  • Leave a positive review for a local business or vendor you enjoyed.
  • Donate blood at the Blood Drive in June
  • Collect backpacks or school supplies for the Back to School Drive
  • Offers a wide range of youth mentoring or tutoring
  • Get some friends together and serve at a local soup kitchen
Practical Help
  • Help an elderly neighbor with yardwork (bonus: plant some flowers)
  • Bake a treat for any of your neighbors
  • Pay for the person behind you in a drive-thru
  • Grocery shop for an elderly loved one or elderly neighbor. Bonus: Ask them about their day or to share life advice.
  • Host a “free yard work” day for elderly neighbors or single parents
  • Walk the dogs at a shelter
  • Call an animal shelter and ask if they need someone to play with puppies or offer to help walk them

Join a Serving Group

Groups are a great way to meet new people and make a difference together. You can join an Unleashed group and go through the Book of Acts while serving, support a local partner, or form a group around a passion area. Groups begin the week of June 1 and meet for 10 weeks.
