PADS
Providing hot meals and a warm place to sleep for local residents who are homeless
PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) is a network of 19 faith-based shelters in northwest surburban Cook County that assist men, women, and families who have become or are at risk of becoming homeless. Each designated PADS site provides hospitality, food, and emergency shelter to homeless people from 7 p.m.–7 a.m. during the inclimate months of October through April. Willow Creek serves as a PADS site every Thursday night during these months.
How can I get connected with PADS to receive emergency shelter?
The first step to receiving emergency shelter is to call (847) 963-9163 and begin the registration process. You can also find a list of emergency shelters, complete with addressess, directions, and phone numbers, by clicking here. Guests attending Willow's PADS shelter may arrive at 6:45 p.m.on Thursdays. Once on campus, head for Entrance F (on the far west side of our building).
Can I volunteer to serve Willow's PADS guests?
Yes! The PADS team would love for you to join them, and a two-hour training session is provided. Most monthly on-site serving opportunities are 4-hour shifts, and responsibilities include serving food, washing clothes, driving a van, and spending time with guests on Thursday evenings. The PADS team is also looking for individuals to cook the meals for our guests.
