Libre 3:20 to Perform at Casa de Luz

Libre 3:20, a band best known for their alternative rock mixed with Latin-style music, will be on hand for a free concert at Casa de Luz, Willow Creek’s church for Spanish-speaking people.

The band from Tijuana, Mexico will share music from three of their albums:  VDH, Dakine, and No Hay Palabras. No Hay Palabras has been nominated as best independent album in the 2008 Premios Arpa Awards. (Premios Arpa awards correspond to the U.S. Dove Awards for Christian music.)

“We started small, playing in small churches and venues,” lead singer Sammy Gonzalez said. “Then God began opening doors and now we have three albums and we’re playing all over.” The band, which began playing in 2003, has shared the stage Marcos Vidal, Maria del Sol, Alejandro Alonso and Roca Firme.

When they’re not performing, the entire band works at Casa Hogar Sion, an orphanage under the leadership of Sammy's mother. Casa Hogar Sion provides shelter and education to children in Tijuana, Mexico.

The free concert begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 10, in the Chapel area at Willow Creek Community Church located at the SE corner of Barrington and Algonquin Roads in South Barrington.
