North Shore Takes the Plunge
This summer, Willow Creek’s North Shore campus is taking a unique approach to encouraging people to grow in God’s Word.
“We believe that life change really does happen best in community, so The Plunge combines three strong aspects of church—community time, teaching, and discussion groups,” said Steve Gillen, director of Willow’s regional ministry.
Community, Teaching, Discussion
On Thursday evenings, approximately 300 people gather at Christian Heritage Academy, the site of Willow Creek North Shore, for a learning community that begins with a meal. Dinner is open to the entire family and we sit at large round tables in the Harvest area,” said Steve Gillen, director of Willow’s Regional ministry.
Following dinner, kids go to one of three age-specific child care areas: Bubbles for infants and toddlers, Flippers for ages 2-5, and Camp Plunge where those in kindergarten through Grade 4 enjoy a camp-like experience.
Teaching in an Interactive Format
Adults experience a time of live teaching in an interactive format, followed by facilitated discussion groups. Teaching topics include:
• Pursuing full devotion to Christ
• Priesthood of all believers
• Spiritual gifts—developing and using them
• Spirit-led life and how to live it
• The fruit of the Spirit and how to recognize it
• Life Change—it happens best in community
Equipped for the Journey
“Willow is rethinking the coaching we give to Christ followers as they pursue full devotion to Christ,” said Gillen, “we want to make sure they are equipped with the tools they need to grow in their spiritual journey.
The Plunge continues through the summer.
