Willow Celebrates Easter

“The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most powerful thing that has ever happened in history,” said Senior Pastor Bill Hybels at Willow Creek’s Easter services. “It affirms the faith of Christ followers; it offers the promise of eternal life, and it is the hinge point of all history.”

It is Jesus who satisfies our thirst.

We thirst for meaning in our lives
For connection and community with others
For a vision that is beyond ourselves
For cleansing from the moral guilt that plagues our souls

These are life’s fundamental thirsts. But when we try to satisfy those thirsts outside of Christ, we will never be satisfied. He alone is the spring of living water.

My people have committed two sins:
They have forsaken me,
the spring of living water,
and have dug their own cisterns,
broken cisterns that cannot hold water. (Jeremiah 2:13)

Jesus said, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me.” (John 7:37)

“Our resurrected Savior promised to rain down meaning, love, forgiving grace, and a grander vision that will satisfy our thirst for something beyond our lives,” Bill said. “But the choice is ours. It’s up to us to humble ourselves, look to Christ, and believe by faith that He can satiate our thirst.”

Willow Creek celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter with five identical services at South Barrington and at the four regional campuses: Chicago, DuPage, McHenry and North Shore.
