Willow DuPage Celebrates Six Years
Satellite churches of Willow Creek became a reality on March 3, 2002 when Willow Creek Wheaton opened its doors for its first official weekend services.
From Dream to Reality
For several years, regional campuses were a dream that would allow Willow to reach more people in the Chicagoland area who were unchurched. Statistics indicated that driving more than 30 minutes to church hindered many attenders from participating at a deeper level, whether connecting with other believers or serving. Opening Regional sites were a solution.
From Willow Wheaton to Willow DuPage
Six years later, Willow Wheaton is thriving. Now known as Willow DuPage, the regional site makes its home on the campus of Wheaton Academy in West Chicago. “Two phrases best sum up the past six years,” said Campus Pastor Steve Spear. “Fresh faces and fresh insights. God has added fresh faces, both young and old, to the DuPage family and He has been faithful to bring fresh insights into what it means to follow Him and to be a faith community that reaches out.”
Weekend services at Regional locations are a blend of in-house worship and messages delivered via videocast from South Barrington by Willow teaching pastors.
Willow Creek currently has three regional sites in addition to DuPage, North Shore, McHenry County, and a location in downtown Chicago that meets in the historic Auditorium Theatre.
