What is your favorite scripture verse?
In John Chapter 15 it says "I am the vine, you are the branches, apart from me you can do nothing." I love nature, so this verse speaks loudly to me. It helped me understand that God chose me, that he had a plan for my life. From a very young age I felt called to teach. I earned my master’s degree in special education from Columbia University in New York. I worked as a special education teacher first in New Orleans. Later I moved to New Jersey and then to Illinois. Here I was drawn to ministry work with the church. Today I am on staff as the neighborhood-life director. I believe this is what I was meant to do.

What is most important in your life?
God, family and friends are most important to me. Wayne and I have been married for 23 years and have three children. I also have relatives in Germany. There is a Mueffelmann farm there dating back to the 1600s. I try to visit these family members every few years.
