What job did you dream of doing when you graduated from high school?
I always wanted to get married, have children and be a teacher. My husband Bob and I have five children, four of whom are still in school.
How has your professional background helped you at WCMC?
I worked in human resources for 25 years. I believe God put me here at WCMC to encourage and nurture volunteers so that they feel affirmed and appreciated in their work. I focus on listening and moving in the direction God wants me to go.
What would you want written on your headstone?
“Here lies Shelly Hallgren; she saw the good in all mankind.”
