Global Engagement at Willow Wheaton
We have an ongoing active partnership with local churches in the Dominican Republic that are committed to the holistic transformation of their communities.

Partnering with Christian Church of Restoration (CCR) in the Dominican Republic, we send teams to serve with local CCR leaders in the community of Villa Duarte, located immediately east of the Dominican capital, Santo Domingo. Willow Wheaton families also sponsor under-resourced Villa Duarte children through Compassion International, which partners with CCR's community center. And 60 miles west, in the coastal town of Palmar de Ocoa, Willow Wheaton donors and volunteers are helping the community expand educational options and to install concrete floors and latrines for the town's most needy.
Christian Church of Restoration (CCR), one of our partner churches in the Dominican Republic, is bringing hope and transformation to people who live in extreme poverty. For example, CCR implemented the Child Survivor Program where 75 women can learn marketable crafts twice a week.
We have organized a Vacation Bible School (VBS) with CCR, for 400 to 500 children at a time, teaching them about the Word of God and growing their faith through fun activities like storytelling and crafts.Willow Wheaton volunteers helped CCR demolish, and lay the foundation and columns of a new healthcare center for Villa Duarte, which benefits 700 families.
A five-gallon bottle of water costs around $1.40 US in the Dominican Republic, a price that puts purified water out of reach for many poor families. CCR installed a purifying water plant adjacent to the church. Now five gallons of water only costs $0.45 US in Villa Duarte.
