When unchecked, it severely impacts a person's ability to function normally, affecting family, friends, and work. Definition: "OCD is a lifelong disorder identified by two general groups of symptoms: obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are intrusive, unwelcome, distressing thoughts and mental images. Compulsions are the behaviors people with OCD perform in a vain attempt to exorcise the fears and anxieties caused by their obsessions."
