Authentic Listening

Being listened to is so close to being loved
that most people cannot tell the difference.

David Oxberg

God is at work in all of our relationships; in our families, in our friendships, in our neighborhood, in the work place, in the relationships that occur out of everyday life, and in our growing relationship with Him. These each require the work and development of authentic listening.

Listening is a skill that needs to be continually developed in all of us, if we are to build meaningful and lasting relationships. Sometimes people test sharing a piece of their story to find out, “Is anybody really listening?” and then they are willing to share more.

Do you have the growing desire to:

  • Experience being more connected to God, others and yourself?
  • Be more proactive in building relationships in your family, your neighborhood or where you work and play?
  • Explore what it means to be deeply heard, or to listen to someone else in a profound way?
  • Improve your ability to ask great questions to help others deepen their life with God and others?
  • Discern God’s activity in your own story and the story of others?
  • Determine the next steps for applying listening in your life?
If the desire to become a more authentic listener is true of you, contact Joan Kelley or call 224-512-2189
