Volunteer Opportunities
There are many volunteer opportunities in the Good Sense Ministry. If you have a desire to help and you believe God is leading you to Good Sense, you may choose from one of the following:
You may also check the Willow Creek volunteer website for more information. Volunteer Site
Counselors
Counselors provide confidential counseling to individuals and
couples who have contacted the ministry with specific questions about finances. Counselors help clients review their current situation;
establish goals; create a record-keeping system; and develop plans
for spending, debt-reduction, giving and saving.
Good Sense Counselors are from all walks of life — from homemakers to teachers to salespeople to accountants to retirees. You do not need to be a financial professional. An aptitude for analytical thinking, problem solving and experience with their own personal finances help counselors to be successful. Good Sense provides training and small group experience to help volunteers serve others most effectively.
Counselors should become Participating Members of Willow Creek and be willing to enter into a biblical community (small group)
within Good Sense.
Spiritual gifts: administration, counseling, discernment,
encouragement, leadership and wisdom.
Teachers
Teachers provide upfront delivery of Good Sense messages at seminars, workshops and in discussion groups. Teachers are also involved in developing, enhancing and maintaining outstanding, relevant and empowering curriculum. They are a part of a team of teachers and facilitators who meet regularly to sharpen their gifts and skills, develop strategies and support each other. Most teaching opportunities are within Willow Creek, but there are various teaching opportunities that involve travel to other WCA churches.
Spiritual gifts: teaching, creative communication, encouragement
and leadership.
Event Management & Set Up
Event management and set up volunteers provide administrative and
hospitality services for the Good Sense events. They also provide
resources necessary for a distraction-free, warm and comfortable environment for those attending and assist the speaker/facilitator with materials needed to teach effectively. Typically they work as part of a small team supporting a limited number of Good Sense events.
Spiritual gifts: administration, helps, hospitality and
leadership.
